2022 Tea & Drama

“Afternoon Tea at the Garlands”

After two years of virtual fundraisers due to the pandemic, Signal Hill Chapter, NSDAR, held its annual “Afternoon Tea at the Garlands, Barrington, Illinois with a full house of 120 guests on Wednesday, October 26, 2022. Some guests wore a fancy hat, toasted with a cup of brewed tea, enjoyed sweet and savories, and an informative presentation on the history of that famous retailer, Marshall Field.

This year’s presentation featured award-winning historian, author and storyteller Leslie Goddard. She also signed her book, “Remembering Marshall Field’s” and sold out of every copy! At the close of the Afternoon Tea, Chapter Regent Joyce Wright drew names of the winners of ten beautifully wrapped gift baskets: Patriotic Entertainment, American Flag, Mediterranean Delight, Coffee & Tea, Sip & Savor, Godiva Chocolate Martini, Wine & Dine, Italian Dinner, The Pampered Woman, and Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. Another lucky person was the winner of the Teapot SURPRISE drawing, which included a $100 bill and a lovely tea basket.

Signal Hill Chapter extends thanks all of the generous Donors for their in-kind donations, all who donated the basket items, and shared their expertise in wrapping and organizing the ten baskets and “Teapot SURPRISE”. Thanks also goes to our Vendors – Ten Thousand Villages and Belli Farm Bee & Honey Products. Once again, we are grateful to the Staff at The Garlands for making this a special day for all.

A special THANK YOU to the Afternoon Tea Committee who worked tirelessly to make this a memorable day for Signal Hill Chapter and our Guests: 2nd Vice Regent Danielle Maas, Mary Miller, Jane Laystrom, Mary Ann Ennis, & PR/Media Chairman Ruth Groth.

All funds raised at The Afternoon Tea will be used to support NSDAR mission goals of education, historic preservation, patriotism, Native Americans, and conservation
